COVID-19 and Food Safety

COVID-19 and Food Safety (Guided by NSW Food Authority, NSW Health)

Currently there is no evidence of foodborne transmission being a significant pathway. Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) provides further advice about this here https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/consumer/safety/Pages/NOVEL-CORONAVIRUS-AND-FOOD-SAFETY.aspx

There are no direct food safety measures as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Like SARS and MERS, COVID-19 is spread via person-to-person transmission (coughing, contaminated surfaces and fomites, and close contact with an infected individual).

Food Rascal is committed to the health and safety of our employees, clients and suppliers and is committed to preventing the spread of COVID-19 through the following hygiene and social distancing practices including:

  • Maintaining and practicing frequent hand washing when preparing foods, after going to the bathroom, and after touching the face or hair

  • Maintaining thorough cleaning and sanitising of facilities, equipment, and transport vehicles (including food contact surfaces and equipment, but also door handles, light switches, floors, walls, and other 'high touch' areas)

  • Thoroughly cleaning surfaces with water, detergent, disinfectant

  • Maintaining strict requirements around employee health and hygiene. All employees are trained in personal hygiene and how to wash their hands properly. Posters are displayed at all handwashing stations in our business

  • Practicing appropriate physical distancing between employees, suppliers and customers

  • Any employee with a suspected communicable disease (such as coughing, sneezing, flu-like symptoms, gastrointestinal illness) are excluded from the workplace. The health of all employees is reviewed on a daily basis and any employees showing these symptoms are sent home or advised not to come to work

  • Following the NSW Health recommendations regarding self-quarantine of individuals who are considered to be a risk

  • All food handlers and delivery drivers will be required to wear disposable gloves

  • Hand sanitiser is made available for use for all employees and delivery drivers

We continue to monitor the advice from the above government departments to ensure we maintain the best practices and respond accordingly.

Food Safety and Transportation

Our food and drinks are transported in our catering van. Once delivered to your door, you will need to refrigerate within 30 minutes to guarantee quality and safety.

The Food Rascal Packs and Sides require some preparation and designed to eat immediately or within 3 days.

Directions for storage and expiration of items are labelled individually.

Allergies and Dietary Requirements

Our packs may contain allergens and are prepared in kitchens that handle nuts, shellfish, gluten and eggs. Whilst all reasonable efforts are taken to accommodate guest dietary needs, we cannot guarantee that our food will be allergy free.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

NSW Liquor Act 2007: It is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to, or to obtain alcohol on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years.

Please note all alcohol orders will require a photo ID on delivery. If you will not be home, you will be required to leave special instructions as we are unable to leave alcohol at your door.

Food Rascal supports the responsible service of alcohol.
